Set just outside Newton Abbot, Bickley Mill is a beautiful wedding venue that combines rustic charm with elegant surroundings. It provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxed day where everyone could simply enjoy being together, from the ceremony through to the evening celebrations.
With sunshine from start to finish, guests made the most of Bickley Mill’s lovely gardens and outdoor spaces, catching up over drinks before the celebrations gathered pace.
Rachel and Keith created a day that felt welcoming and unhurried, giving everyone time to relax, laugh and celebrate with them.
Their young son was never far away throughout the day.
Whether he was quietly watching the ceremony, sneaking into family photographs with a cheeky grin or simply wanting to be wherever the action was, he became one of the stars of the day. Those little unscripted moments are often the ones couples treasure most, and he certainly kept everyone smiling.
Children have a wonderful way of reminding us to stay in the moment, and documenting those natural interactions is one of my favourite parts of wedding photography.
One of the highlights of the reception was a spectacular birds of prey display.
Guests had the chance to meet these incredible birds up close, creating a memorable experience that nobody was expecting. Watching everyone’s reactions—from excitement to complete amazement—made for some fantastic photographs and added another unique chapter to the story of the day.
It’s personal touches like these that make every wedding completely different.
As the afternoon drifted into evening, the celebrations continued with plenty of laughter, heartfelt conversations and a packed dance floor.
From emotional moments with family to guests throwing themselves into the celebrations, the whole day had a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere that allowed genuine memories to unfold naturally.
If you’re planning your wedding at Bickley Mill and are looking for natural, documentary-style wedding photography, I’d love to hear about your plans.
My approach is all about capturing the moments you don’t want to forget—the big emotions, the little glances, the unexpected laughter and everything in between—so your photographs tell the real story of your wedding day for years to come.
